Vance County Genealogical Society

A nonprofit organization, the Vance County Genealogical Society was begun in 2011. Meetings are held the third Monday of every month at 6:30 P. M. in the Local History Room of the H. Leslie Perry Library, 205 Breckenridge Street, Henderson, N. C.

The society serves as a medium of exchange of genealogical information for Vance County and the surrounding area. It promotes the collection and preservation of materials of genealogical and historical value, and seeks to raise awareness of the unique past in our "own backyard."

Long range goals include county cemetery surveys. Additionally the VCGS plans to issue a quarterly newsletter containing original historical material and family names being researched by members, queries and other items of interest. Members are encouraged to contribute information.

Plan to attend if you are in the area. The Society is open to anyone interested in genealogical history of Vance County and hopes to aid in the research and preservation of materials relating to the area.
